Robinson Secondary School Announces the 2016 Class of the Robinson Athletic Hall of Fame
The Robinson Athletic Hall of Fame Committee is proud to announce the 2016 Class of the Robinson Secondary School Athletic Hall of Fame who will be inducted on January 23, 2016. The 4th class of the hall of fame features state champions, a national champions, All Americans, a former professional athlete, and a coach for the USA Olympic team. Here are some of the accomplishments of each member of the 2016 class.

Durmia Marshall (’90) was a member of the Robinson football, basketball, and track & field teams. Among his numerous accomplishments, Durmia was a State Champion in the 100m and runner up in the 200m and the Robinson record holder in both events. He was a member of Northern District and Northern Region Championship football team, and state runner up in 1988. He was also a member of the Northern Region Championship and State Runner Up basketball team in 1987.

Mark Alan Krynitskey (’78) was a varsity letterman in football, baseball and basketball for the Rams. He was a member of the District and Regional Championship teams for football in 1977, and basketball and baseball in 1978. Mark went on to be a four year starter for the Virginia Tech baseball team where he served as team captain for three of those year. He compiled a 99 win and 18 loss record in 1981 and 1982 when the Hokies were the Virginia Collegiate champions. He was named Metro Conference All Star Team in 1982. Mark played four years of professional baseball.

Todd Kirtley (’78) was a varsity letterman in football, baseball and basketball for the Rams. Todd received All-District, All-Region, All-State, and MVP honors in football, named MVP of the basketball Regional Tournament in 1978, and he received All-District, All-Region, All-Met, and All-State honors in baseball in 1978. He as a member of the District and Regional Championship teams for football in 1977, and basketball and baseball in 1978. He was a recipient of the Ram Booster Award, the Distinguished Senior Award, and the Faculty Award. Todd played football for UVA and was twice named ACC Offensive Player of the Week.

Eugene Mitchell (’98) was a member of the 14-0 State Championship football team at Robinson. He received first team All-District and All-Region honors for both offense and defense, and received All-State honors as defensive end. Eugene caught 30 receptions for 560 yards, averaging 18.7 years per catch. He is credited with six receiving touchdowns, five rushing touchdowns, one kick-off return for a touchdown, and at least 17 sacks.

Dan Gill (’00) was a varsity gymnast at Robinson who won the State All-Around title three out of the four years he attended Robinson and was the National All-Around Champion his senior year, as well as an IB Diploma recipient. Dan attended Stanford University where he accumulated many NCAA titles, represented the USA in the Pan-American Games, qualified for the Olympic Trials in 2004, and won the Nissen-Emery Award.

Joey Hildbold (’99) was a varsity letterman in football, wrestling and soccer at Robinson. He received numerous All-District, All-Region, All-Met and All-State honors in football as a punter and kicker, as well as All-District Honors in Wrestling and Soccer. Joey was selected as an All-American and was named top high school punter in the US. He went on to be the starting punter for Notre Dame for four years, where he set two records at Notre Dame and one NCAA record.

Sherry Worsham (’91) was a member of the Robinson Girls Soccer team. She was two time first team All- District, first team All-Northern Region, first team All-State, NSCAA All South Team and NSCAA All-American in 1990 and 1991. Sherry led the Rams to back-to-back Regional Championship games and for her youth club team was a member of the 1990 and 1991 USYSA State Cup Championship Team. She was a four year starter for George Mason where she was CAA All Conference first team in 1994.

Jeri Daniels Elder (’78) was the 1977 State Champion in the Shot Put, and a member of the 1977-1978 District and Regional Champion Girls Track and Field Team, the 1977 Girls State Championship Basketball Team, and the 1978 Field Hockey Championship team. At William and Mary she was a four time AIAW All-American in the Shot Put in Discus, held the William and Mary Shot Put record for 23 years and the Discus record for 28 years. Jeri was the 1982 National AIAW Shot Put Champion, and in 1994 was inducted into the William and Mary Athletic Hall of Fame. A highlight of her coaching career includes serving as the Assistant Throws Coach for Team USA in the 2004 Olympic Games.

Kathy Cotton Beaty (’85) was a varsity letterman and team captain of Robinson’s field hockey, basketball, and soccer teams. She received All-District and All-Region honors in all three sports. Additionally, in basketball, she was the Northern District Tournament MVP. In soccer, she was a member of the 1984 Virginia State Championship Team and was named first team All-Met in 1985. In 1984, she was a member of the Virginia State team that claimed a National Title. She was a two sport athlete at Gettysburg College, competing in both field hockey and basketball.

Frank Schaede (’76) had a 41-2 record as a member of the Robinson Wrestling Team, going undefeated in his junior and senior years. He was the Northern District, Northern Region, and AAA Virginia State Champion in 1975 and 1976. He went on to wrestle at East Carolina University and was the 1977 Southern Conference Tournament Champion.

Coach Jeremy Workman was the coach of the boys and girls cross country and track teams. During his tenure, the boys and girls team had six and eight top three finishes in the Northern Region, respectively. The girls and boys teams won a combined seven District titles in cross country and both teams were Regional Champions for the 1999 Season. The boys team won the State Championship in 1999 and the girls team was the 2000 State Runner-Up. The 2001 girls cross country team won the Virginia State Championship. Coach Workman led many athletes onto NCAA Division I cross country and track and field careers. In the 1999 season, Coach Workman was named All-Met Coach of the Year in Cross Country and Northern Region Coaches Association Coach of the Year in Outdoor Track for 2006.

1999 Men’s Cross Country Team were the Patriot, Northern Region, and AAA Virginia State Champions. They finished the season undefeated against the Metro Area and were ranked 18th in the USA by Harrier Magazine. The 1999 team was considered one of the greatest men’s team ever to come out of the Northern Region.

1981 Wrestling Team had an 11-1 record during the dual meet season, were the Bishop Ireton Holiday Tournament, Northern Direction, Northern Region, and AAA Virginia State Champions. All members of the varsity team held individual winning records, and four were undefeated going into post-season tournaments. At least six members of the team went on to compete in wrestling at the collegiate level.
