Tryouts begin on Monday, 2/19. Below is a timeline of events along with the documentation needed to pick-up equipment.
- Equipment Pick-Up and Fitness Testing is Friday, February 16th at 4:00 PM. We will meet in the lobby outside the weight room. Wear athletic clothing and running shoes. You will be provided a helmet and practice jersey. If anyone needs additional equipment, please email me.
- Tryouts begin on Monday, February 19th. JV tryouts will start at 4:00 PM on the upper grass field known as the JV Baseball Field. Varsity tryouts will be at 7:00 PM in the stadium. Tryouts will run from Monday, February 19th through Wednesday, February 21st. Teams will be chosen and players will be notified of their status on Wednesday, February 21st after the final tryout. Regular season practice will begin on Thursday, February 22nd. Unless there is inclement weather, these will be the tryout and practice times, Monday through Friday, the week of February 19th.
What you need to do between now and then and what you need to bring with you to equipment pick-up. You will not be able to pick-up equipment and tryout until all paperwork has been turned in.
- Physical – If you do not have a physical on file with the Activities Office, you need to bring a copy of the VHSL Physical form (http://www.robinsonrams.com/sites/robinson.rschoolteams.com/files/files/Private_User/jferrell/physical%202017%20updated_pdf) to a physician and have him/her complete it. You must turn in your physical to the Activities Office. Do not bring the physical to equipment pick-up. Complete the physical and turn it in on or before Wednesday, February 14th so it can be reviewed by our training staff. If you have played a sport at Robinson this school year, you have a physical on file and do not need a new physical.
- Online Concussion Course – You, the player, and one parent or guardian must complete the online concussion course (https://www.fcps.edu/activities/student-athletics). When you reach the FCPS Student Athletics page, scroll down to find the Parent Concussion Education and Student Concussion Education links. Please have the courses completed on or before Wednesday, February 14th so they can be reviewed by our training staff. If you have played a sport at Robinson this school year, you and a parent/guardian have already completed the online concussion course, so you do not have to do it again.
- FCPS Participation Policy (http://robinsonrams.com/sites/robinson.rschoolteams.com/files/files/Private_User/jferrell/participation%20policy%202017-2018_0.pdf) – It is mandatory that all players read and sign the FAIRFAX COUNTY PUBLIC SCHOOLS (FCPS) PARTICIPATION POLICY. Bring the signature page with you to equipment pick-up.
- Student Diver/Passenger Form (http://www.robinsonrams.com/sites/robinson.rschoolteams.com/files/files/Private_User/jferrell/Driver%20Rider%20form.pdf) – This form is for parents/guardians to complete. The purpose of this form is to provide parent permission for your son to ride with another student in a car, just in case we have to drive somewhere. We usually don’t have to drive anywhere, but occasionally it’s necessary, like in the case of the 2014 State Championship Game or last year’s scrimmage at Atlee.
- Field Trip Driver's License and Vehicle Insurance Information – This form is for drivers only. Again, in case we have to drive anywhere this form provides permission for the student to have passengers and provides proof of insurance. http://www.robinsonathletics.com/library/files/robinsonathletics_com_729/files/fs142.pdf
Emergency Care Cards are automated this year, so I already have them for everyone on the interest list.
